Venus, The Moon and Jupiter gives rare spectacle

Venus, The Moon and Jupiter gives rare spectacle in the sky on the eve of December 1st.

The two brightest planets in the solar system and the moon were seen just two degrees apart Monday evening and will be visible all through the night. Throughout this week, the bright Venus and almost just as bright Jupiter can be seen drawing closer together.

The event is one not to miss because although such encounters take place from time to time, the celestial bodies are sometimes not visible due to being too close to the sun.

The moon was the brightest of the three, but was also the smallest. The moon came in at 252,000 miles away from Earth, compared to Venus which was 94 million miles away. Jupter, which was the least brightest of the three, was 540 million miles away. Usually when they unite it is far too bright to see them such as this. The next time they will be visible like this will be the week of November 18, 2052 according to experts.
